Save This Shelter - Braveheart Rescue

All of my loyal blog followers are well aware of my love of animals and my desire to help as much as I can. There is a small township in my metro area that is shutting down a rescue shelter ASAP, which means the animals will most likely not find homes and euthanization is a probability. Below is a copy of the letter I have personally written. I have also shared this via Facebook and Google+.

I urge you to take a moment to submit a letter of your own begging this township to reconsider denying this shelter the necessary ordinance they require to stay open. It takes nothing more than a few minutes of your time. I'm not Sally Struthers. I have no slide show of sick, sad, injured animals in cages to show you with haunting Sarah McLachlan music playing to coax those tears. I'm just asking you to take a few moments and indicate your own unwillingness to see even ONE more shelter in our world shut down. All damage inflicted on animals was by man, period. We have done the damage, now we have to accept the challenge to make it right. Even if it saves only ONE animal, isn't that worth it?

Letters should be sent via email to mjsnyder@embarqmail.com and cc'd to the shelter at brandi@bevcomm.net For more information on the shelter itself, please visit http://www.braveheartrescueinc.com/

I know my readers are as compassionate as I am, and I hope you will find the same desire I did to try to help this shelter.

Dear Marshan Township Board of Directors:

I am writing in response to the article I read in the Star Tribune newspaper on Sunday, September 9, 2012. Specifically, I am writing to support the efforts of the Braveheart rescue shelter in their attempts to receive the ordinance required for them to remain open. In addition to this letter, I have also reposted to my Facebook, Google +, and Twitter feeds, in addition to my own personal blog, http://onceimelectedqueen.blogspot.com/2012/09/save-this-shelter.html

As an avid animal lover, I have nothing but the utmost respect for those who willingly choose to spend their time trying to correct damage done to pets. Whether it be physical or emotional damage makes no difference because the cause is ALWAYS the same - humans. People who are willing to use their own resources, their property, their finances, and their time and patience attempting to undo all of the hurt and pain so many animals face after being abandoned or abused by humans is worthy of nothing less than approval, from individuals in the community as well as governing bodies. These people should never have to beg for the option to keep their doors open. This shelter is obviously attempting to help the community by rehabilitating pets who might not otherwise have a chance at a better life outside of a cage or being euthanized. I believe EVERY pet deserves that same consideration, and to refuse to allow a well-run shelter that same consideration, which again is HELPING your community, not hindering it, is a very wrong and tragic decision. Every community should be lucky enough to have such people willing to invest so much simply to help those animals who have done nothing to be where they are (homeless, abused, starving, injured) and can do nothing to help themselves without the love and aid of such people and organizations. As a township committed to improving and protecting your own community, you should be ashamed to be unwilling to support such a cause.

I ask you to reconsider and provide this shelter with the ordinance they require to help rehabilitate these animals and give them a chance at the life they each deserve. Whatever fate they currently face is because of man and, therefore, they deserve nothing less than the chance to live out their lives with affection, love, and companionship, not further cruelty.

Sincerely,

Trisha Williams
