I finally did it. I met an alpaca. That wondrous farm of cuties were hanging at the hardware store's grand opening this past weekend (not quite sure what all entails a "grand opening" of a hardware store because other than the alpacas, there was nothing grand going on. It was a hardware store. It was overpriced. There was an (empty) popcorn machine. That's pretty much it for the grandness of it all).
But.....the alpacas! When we got there, I was so bummed because all I saw was a pen that said "alpacas" but just like everytime I go to the zoo, the good exhibits have that retarded "this exhibit is on temporary vacation" sign, like suddenly Morgan Freeman called and needed all the penguins back for a reshoot. I did see a horse trailer with a little window, and then miracle of miracles! I saw a fuzzy head poke out. I ran out of the car to go see and asked if I could pet him and they said yes, they were very friendly. The alpaca started making this funny humming noise and I asked if he was angry and about to spit on me and they said no, that's their happy sound. I tried to get Jay to get a picture of him when he was peeking out his window, when the most amazing thing ever happened - the alpaca people offered to BRING THEM OUT FOR ME! So not only did I get to meet ONE alpaca, I got to meet, pet, and pose with TWO! One was beige and one was dark brown, and they were as tall as me (not anything impressive, I know) and they were built kind of like ostriches but with a super fluffy bunny middle. They were just as amazing as I had always hoped, and I think now when I get old and make a bucket list, I'll probably be pretty damn close to being done with it already.
(For the record, I'm the human in the wheat/white Alpaca sandwich, not the one holding the leash. And also for the record, that leash is not attached to me.)
