Who doesn't love that song and remember the secret thrill of someone's phone number! being spread around the world on MTV?
I'm finally joining the land of the really living and getting an iPhone. Jay and Justin got new iPhones in February and love them. Meanwhile, Ryan and I had to impatiently cool our jets waiting for our upgrade status to change so we could trade in our old clunkers, too. It's been a long, long wait. At least Ryan's phone is decent. Mine's an old castoff of Justin's after my real favorite phone died. This POS is so outdated that I have to actually text via the number keys (a, b, c.....q, r......a.....p). It actually has a touch screen keyboard, but it's so stupidly small that I have better luck hitting each key than trying to type a word.
Speaking of phones, our youngest is on a much, much different path than the other two took, and we're still waiting for when he'll be ready for his own phone. Whenever I think he might be, I think of the opening scenes in Kung Fu, and realize he's got a long, LONG way to being able to snatch the pebble from my hand. He still has trouble with 2-step commands, such as:
"Branden, pick up your shoes and put your laundry away."
Two hours later:
"Branden, put your laundry away."
One hour later:
"Branden! Get your laundry and PUT.IT.AWAY!"
Half hour later:
"Branden! Dammit, put away that laundry you took up to your room and get those 12 socks that fell out of your basket all down the hall and put those away, too."
Note his response to every single one of these is an enthusiastic the lightbulb just went off "Oh, yeah!"
Last night he was upstairs in his room and we wanted him downstairs. Unfortunately, he does NOT hear me when I yell. Fortunately, he DOES hear Justin when HE yells (it's more of a bellow, so maybe that's the key). Unfortunately for us, Justin was downstairs. I told Jay, "I should text Justin to come upstairs and yell to Branden to come downstairs." Then I realized my phone was in the kitchen, so I asked Jay to go get my phone so I could text Justin to come upstairs to yell to Branden to come downstairs. He declined (big surprise). I then suggested maybe it was time to get Branden his own phone so I could text him to come down, but he probably wouldn't remember where his phone is, so then I could text Branden to come downstairs, then text Justin to come upstairs to bellow to Branden to check his phone. That could work. Until then, that pebble is just waiting for his advancement, although by now I'm sure I've misplaced it somewhere. I'll have to text Justin and see if he knows where it is.
